Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club is the private club at the heart of Lakewood Ranch. It's the only club in the Sarasota area that gives members four private 18-hole golf courses, 72 holes in all. The residential neighborhoods around it, The Country Club and Country Club East, include dozens of gated villages. Homes range from maintenance-free villas to golf-course estates. Below is what I tell my own buyers about the club, the neighborhoods and the market, plus every Country Club home I can find for sale.

Three of the courses carry Arnold Palmer's design name: King's Dunes, Cypress Links and The Legacy. The fourth, Royal Lakes in Country Club East, was designed by Rick Robbins and opened in 2007. The Legacy was a public course until 2024, when it joined the club as its fourth private course.
Heritage Golf Group bought the club from the Lakewood Ranch developer, Schroeder-Manatee Ranch, in March 2024. Since then it has been renovating on a rotating schedule, starting with Cypress Links and The Legacy, then moving to Royal Lakes and King's Dunes. Beyond golf, the club offers racquet sports, fitness and wellness amenities, practice facilities, and two distinct clubhouses: the main clubhouse in The Country Club and The Lodge in Country Club East.
As of mid-October 2026, about 35 single-family homes are listed for sale in the Country Club neighborhoods, from roughly $415,000 for a villa to about $4 million for a golf-course estate. The average asking price is about $1.2 million, or roughly $395 per square foot, and a typical home has 3 bedrooms and about 2,850 square feet. Most homes were built between the late 1990s and the mid-2010s. These figures change daily, so use them as a guide, not a guarantee.
The Country Club is the original section, built mostly from the late 1990s through the 2000s around King's Dunes, Cypress Links and The Legacy. It has mature landscaping, tree-lined streets and the widest range of home styles and prices, from attached villas to large custom estates.
Country Club East is the newer section, built mostly in the 2010s around Royal Lakes, with The Lodge as its clubhouse. Homes here tend to be newer, with more open floor plans and current construction standards.
Each section is made up of many smaller gated villages with their own HOA, fees and rules. Some villages include lawn care or exterior maintenance, and others don't. I compare village by village, because two homes a few streets apart can carry very different monthly costs.
Buying a home doesn't make you a club member. Club membership is a separate decision with its own categories, costs and availability, and the club has had a waitlist at times. Ask about current membership options before you buy, especially if golf is the reason you're moving here.
On older homes, check the big-ticket items. Many homes in The Country Club are now 20 to 25 years old. Roof age, air conditioning and windows affect both your repair budget and your homeowners insurance, because Florida insurers look closely at roof age. I have my clients get insurance quotes during the inspection period, not after.
Golf frontage is a trade-off. A fairway view adds value and beauty but comes with less privacy and the occasional stray ball. Some buyers prefer lake or preserve views at a lower price.
Look at the full tax bill. Many Lakewood Ranch neighborhoods are in a Community Development District, and the CDD assessment appears on your property tax bill along with HOA dues. Pull the actual tax bill for any home you're considering.
Life in the Country Club revolves around the club calendar, with golf leagues, tennis and pickleball, dining and social events. You're also in the middle of everything Lakewood Ranch offers: Lakewood Ranch Main Street and Waterside Place for restaurants and events, University Town Center for shopping, Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, and Sunday polo at the Sarasota Polo Club. I-75 and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport are a short drive, and the Gulf beaches are about half an hour west.
The Country Club neighborhoods are in Manatee County and are served by School District of Manatee County schools. Zoning varies by address, so always confirm schools for a specific home with the district.
It's a great fit if you want a club lifestyle with more golf than any other club in the area, a choice of home styles and prices, and a central Lakewood Ranch location. If you'd rather have a smaller, quieter estate community on larger lots, look at The Concession. For a resort-style social scene without golf, I'll show you The Lake Club.
